Why do Customers Pay for Bags?

We do give you the choice to use a bag, box or to provide your own bag.
To supply bags would cost approximately $250,000 annually, which we would have to recover by charging you higher prices for your groceries.

By giving you the choice of buying bags, we feel we are offering you the best value for money and giving you the choice to pay for them, rather than it being included in our prices.

We also hope this may encourage recycling of bags and boxes, as there is a huge environmental cost in processing the disposal of "free" shopping bags from other retailers.

We do have carry bags available at the Service Desk or Express Bags as you walk into Produce or if you use Shop'n Go, we would suggest a box or bag you can use every time & pack as you go.

Why we don't always have the product you want?

With around 20,000 lines in the store, it can still be frustrating that we don't have the one thing you are looking for.

We are, believe it or not, limited in our shelf space and have to carefully select the products most people want.

Some products require a number of facings (rows) to cope with the sales volume so that the shelf does not become empty too quickly.

Besides the space issue we are also sometime limited due to a ranging philosophy of the Pak'n Save group to support group purchasing to ensure the best possible pricing for you.

If you are looking for something you can't find, please ask at the Service Desk or contact us and we will see if we can stock or source it for you or at least let you know why we can't get it.

Why don't we advertise our prices?

The Pak'n Save group decided that for the last 7 years we have been found to be the cheapest overall supermarket by an independent survey. We want to ensure it stays this way and it was decided that if we stopped advertising we would be able to save you even more by spending that money on reducing our pricing even further. You are guaranteed to get great prices every time you visit us.
